The Scorrier or Cornish Snaffle is an old favourite of ours and we used it on an old hunter with great effect. The mouthpiece has squared off edges similar to the Magenis. One side of the mouthpiece is smooth and the other is serratted giving you an option. The two inside rings are fitted in the slots set within the mouthpiece to which your cheeks would attach to. The reins would fasten to the outside rings. When the contact is taken up the floating rings will squeeze the sides of the mouth and combined with the squared off edges and the serrated mouthpiece make this a very effective bit. The bit can be used with either the plain or the serrated side against the horses mouth.
This bit listed is milder than the English version as the squared off mouthpiece has had its edges smoothed slightly. Please contact us if you would prefer the English made one.
The mass produced version is only available in a 5.5.
